About VetMet

Veterans Medical Emergency Transport, Inc. is a grass-roots, domestic non-profit* organization based in Springfield, Oregon, created to serve all eligible Veterans in the state of Oregon. Additionally, it is our vision and goal to expand coverage regionally to include Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Idaho, and Montana. The VetMET Membership program is designed to provide financial peace of mind for more than 200,000 Oregon Veterans and their households. We are committed to establishing service partners in communities where we are most needed.

The Need

The Department of Veterans Affairs own website defines the obstacles Veterans must navigate in order to even qualify for ambulance service and possible reimbursement to the veteran.   Those conditions include “must be service connected“, “must be pre-authorized” or “must file a claim within 72 hours”.  Conditions most Veterans aren’t even aware of.  As a result, the VA does not generally provide ambulance service to Veterans." Because they do, although with severe limitations that almost always result in no private (non-VA) ambulance service being provided by the Veterans Administration.

Membership Program

Medical emergencies can happen at any time without warning. If EMS or health care providers determine emergency medical transport is needed and you are transported by one of our participating ambulance services, your VetMET Membership protects you and your family from having any out- of-pocket expenses. Lifesaving emergency medical transport (ambulance) can be expensive, and health insurance may not cover all costs. VetMET, in joint cooperation with our participating ambulance service providers, works directly with your insurance company (if any) for their portion of the payment and the rest of the cost is covered by your participating VetMET Membership.
If you are a Veteran*we invite you to join our waiting list to become a VetMET member or give membership as a gift to a Veteran* you know and love.

*Veteran eligibilty is determined by requirements set forth by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Our desire is that VetMET will play a crucial role in helping Veterans access emergency medical care. This can only be done with your help. While for a non-profit to ultimately be sustainable we need people to regularly give monthly, quarterly or yearly, right now our biggest need is having the funding to cover costs for our first members and setting up the systems to effectively manage the membership quickly.
